Neptune + Arch: alternative-investment operations in a shared orbit
Arch helps manage alternative-investment operations and reporting. Neptune’s complementary role is to connect those investment events with the broader authority, cash and responsibility structure of the office.

Two roles. One better workflow.
Compare the role each system can play. Capabilities overlap; the useful test is whether this combination improves your office’s actual process.
| Dimension | Arch | Neptune |
|---|---|---|
| Core role | Alternative investment operations, capital calls, distributions, documents and reporting. | A shared operating workspace connecting entities, evidence, obligations, tasks and permission-aware agents. |
| Records to bring | Authorized call, distribution or document exports, reconciled by entity. | CSV, XLSX or JSON previews, field mapping, validation and duplicate review before a confirmed import. |
| Best place to start | Keep the source system and the controls your office assigns to it. | Assign the people and cash responsibilities around an investment event across permitted entities. |
| Agent authority | Source access follows your provider contract, role and export permissions. | Temporary, scoped, revocable access for ordinary records and imports. Humans retain financial approval. |
| Connection today | Obtain an export through an authorized operator or permitted agent. | Portable file imports and the Neptune API. A native Arch connector or ledger write-back is not implemented. |

Preserve reliable fund operations
The research reviewed capital calls, distributions, documents, tax records, reporting and operational follow-up. Keep those services where they already reduce collection and reconciliation work.
Connect events across entities
Import a permitted call or distribution export, reconcile the entity and currency, and preserve the original notice. A funding obligation can then be evaluated against the actual entity’s unrestricted cash. Neptune never treats cash belonging to one entity as freely spendable by another.
Coordinate the people around the event
A task can assign document review to an advisor and funding preparation to an operator. A human owner or approver must approve the exact obligation. Agent tokens can import records but cannot cross that approval boundary.
Use both with a clean source boundary
Arch remains the authoritative system for the responsibilities the office assigns it. Neptune stores a dated, auditable operating copy. Refresh through permitted exports or the scoped Neptune API; current native Arch integration and automated write-back are not claimed.
Primary sources
Provider descriptions are based on the following reviewed materials. Vendor names identify independent products; no partnership or native connector is implied.
Bring one workflow into orbit.
Start with the example office, then create a private workspace and import a permitted export.
