Neptune + Addepar: from portfolio visibility to coordinated action

Addepar is a major investment data and reporting platform. An office using it should preserve the performance and aggregation infrastructure that already works, then ask how decisions and obligations travel across the rest of the office.

THE PRACTICAL COMPARISON

Two roles. One better workflow.

Compare the role each system can play. Capabilities overlap; the useful test is whether this combination improves your office’s actual process.

What Addepar is built to do

The reviewed Addepar materials describe data aggregation, portfolio analysis, reporting and a connected ecosystem. Its published platform scale is a vendor claim across its customer base, not a count of family offices.

What Neptune adds

Neptune organizes entity-specific obligations, evidence, deadlines, staff tasks and approvals alongside imported holdings and balances. A source report can support an operating decision without becoming a replacement performance engine. Neptune does not currently calculate audited time-weighted or money-weighted returns.

A practical combined workflow

An authorized operator exports a dated holdings or liquidity report. Neptune imports asset or account rows into a chosen entity. The operator uploads the original report as evidence. An obligation uses that entity’s funding account and separately verified beneficiary. A human reviews and approves the proposal before a bank packet is prepared.

Data access and freshness

Use the export methods your Addepar contract and role allow. The current Neptune connection is file-based or its scoped import API; there is no claimed native Addepar API partnership. Refresh exports deliberately and retain the reporting date. Never give an agent broader credentials to bypass an access boundary.

Primary sources

Provider descriptions are based on the following reviewed materials. Vendor names identify independent products; no partnership or native connector is implied.
